Over EC$300,000 to be made available to improve living conditions at the Roseau Fire Department7/8/2016 Over EC$300,000 will be made available to improve the living conditions at the Fire Department in Roseau. This was revealed by the country's National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore. Blackmoore says the long term plan is to relocate the Roseau Fire Department. He says until then however; immediate improvements have to be made to the current structure. Blackmoore says some repairs will also be made to the building housing the Fire Officers in the town of Portsmouth. National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore Meantime, 27 new officers have been added to the Dominica Fire & Ambulance Services. This is to date the largest contingent to have completed the training program. The Fire & Ambulance Service recruit training commenced at the Marigot Youth Centre on March 1 2016 and lasted for 4 months. Recruits were taught basic fire fighting skills and the many advanced techniques, including fire science, Hydraulics, hazardous material awareness, incident management system, emergency medical response, ambulance operation, search and rescue, ladder drills among others.
