Panama Papers Affair; Dr. Thompson Fontaine says these are interesting times for Dominica

UWP Senator and Economist, Dr. Thompson Fontaine, says the huge database of documents relating to more than 200,000 offshore accounts posted online, is the beginning of what will be a very interesting time for Dominica.
 
The Panama Papers is the largest ever release of secret offshore companies and the people behind them. The 11-million documents were leaked from a Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. It shows how some wealthy people use offshore firms to evade tax and avoid sanctions.
 
The database which became accessible yesterday, includes information on a number of companies showing owners from Dominica.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fontaine has made it clear that not all the companies listed are involved in money laundering. He says it is important to determine which of these companies are bona fide and which are involved in hiding monies and criminal proceedings.
