Panel discussion on 'What Makes a Song Cadence' was successfully conducted today August 17, 20168/18/2016 A panel discussion on ‘What Makes a Song Cadence?’ was successfully conducted earlier today, as one of the activities leading up to the Fifth Annual Cadence Lypso Competition. The discussion took place at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus, at 7:00 pm.
The panellists were: Ophelia Olivacé-Marie, Michelle Henderson, Gregory Rabess, Ian Jackson, and Leroy “Wadix” Charles. Cadence pioneer, Gordon Henderson, made his contribution to the discussion via Skype, from France. Veteran Journalist Tim Durand was the moderator. Assistant Coordinator of the Cadence Lypso Committee, Marcel Harrigan said “We first need to go back to the roots, to talk about the components of cadence, before we really venture into taking it on, and trying to mold it into something different,” he told the media. “So, the artists, and the people who are involved in the music, can get a better appreciation of what really constitutes a Cadence song.”
