Executive Members of the UWP Parliamentary Opposition have concluded their contribution to the 2018/2019 budget, and will take no further part in the deliberations at this sitting of the house. According to Public Relations Officer of the UWP Steve Benjamin, the decision to withdraw from the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Ninth Parliament was caused by a series of actions against public interest at this sitting requiring public attention, to preserve parliamentary democracy in Dominica. Speaking to Q95 news on 30th July 2018, Benjamin says one of the main reasons for the Party’s withdrawal is the fact that Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Roosevelt Skerrit has repeatedly disrespected the elected members of the Parliamentary opposition. Benjamin has more: Meantime, Benjamin says the UWP and the people of Dominica are annoyed by the failed promises and recycled pronouncements made by the DLP Government, as regards an international airport, a cruise village and a container port in Dominica. Benjamin added that to date, this type of politics is an embarrassment and mockery of decency in government affairs. Public Relations Officer of the UWP Steve Benjamin
