Many here have been expressing concern over whether a current flu outbreak could be linked to a number of recent sudden deaths.
It has been reported that a number of persons who died suddenly were suffering with the flu.
One Pharmacist here is advising persons with prolonged flu symptoms to visit their healthcare provider.
Carlton Lanquedoc, Pharmacist at Jolly's Pharmacy, says the flu can lead to secondary infections in some people, which can lead to death.
Meanwhile, Lanquedoc says while he cannot confirm that these sudden deaths are linked to the flu, people with existing chronic diseases can be more susceptible to obtaining secondary complications from the flu.
The Ministry of Health has advised persons suffering with CNCDs, the elderly and children showing flu symptoms, to visit their nearest health centre or private doctor.
