Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is calling on citizens of the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to better appreciate the environment and the real impact of climate change on their way of life.
The PM who was addressing the third meeting of OECS Ministers with Responsibility for Environmental Sustainability earlier this week, added that regional governments are way ahead of citizens in advocating the importance of the environment and the issue of climate change. “My hope and prayer are that our citizens, school children, and wider community can have a better appreciation of the real impact of climate change on our way of life,” he said. “It is costing us millions of dollars to put in place mitigation mechanisms to combat the effects of climate change.”
