Opposition Leader, Lennox Linton, has described Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit as a "proud serial violator" of the constitution who refuses to relent.
Linton made these remarks as he claimed that the DLP Government failed to properly consult with the Opposition on the appointment of a Deputy Chief of Police. According to Section 92 (1) of the Constitution “The power to appoint a person to hold or act in the office of Chief of Police or Deputy Chief of Police and subject to the provision of Section 93 of this Constitution, the power to remove the Chief of Police or Deputy of Police from office shall vest in the President acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister given after consultation with the Leader of the Opposition and the Public Service Commission.” But Linton says he was informed by letter on the same day the Former Deputy of Police was scheduled to go on leave of the matter and that the Mr. Davidson Valerie would be appointed to act in the post. " Clearly this is not consultation" says Linton.
