Portsmouth Carnival opened officially, and NFC invites Dominicans to come down & have a great time1/25/2016 Portsmouth Carnival officially opened yesterday, and the Northern Festivals Committee (NFC) invites Dominicans to come down to the north and have a good time for the carnival season. MP Ian Douglas said “Portsmouth happens to be one of the premiere Carnival openings in the sense that, it’s so spontaneous. People can just come over and have a great time and enjoy themselves.”
He added, “It’s going to be a grand affair as it has been in the past, and it has just been growing in numbers. I think right now we have established ourselves as the biggest street party in Dominica, during the Carnival season.” Douglas said “So far, the committees have given the patrons what they have been looking forward for, for the opening of Carnival”. Several costume groups from around Dominica were carded to form part of the opening, including the Mahaut Lapo Kabwit, Sugar Fire Lapo Kabwit from Marigot, Sensay groups, Bwa Bwa & cheerleaders, among other groups.
