President Charles Savarin left the State on Wednesday, January 20th to visit with Pope Francis in Rome

President Charles A. Savarin left the State on Wednesday, January 20th 2016, for an appointment with His Holiness Pope Francis, on Friday 22nd January 2016 at 10:00 am, at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican City.  On that same day, Mr Savarin is also scheduled to meet with Archbishop Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of His Holiness, and the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs.
 
He is accompanied by his wife Mrs. Clara Josephine Savarin; Edward Lambert, Ambassador of Dominica to the Holy See; Baroness Patricia Scotland, Secretary General-designate of the Commonwealth of Nations; Mr. Antoine Raffoul, Honorary Consul of Spain and Mrs. Raffoul; Mr. Francis Emanuel, Honorary Consul of Trinidad & Tobago and Mrs. Emanuel; Dr. Gerald Grell, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Norway & Mrs. Grell; and Mrs. Wendy Jno. Charles D’Angieri, who is a Dominican residing in Rome, Italy.
 
Mr. Conrad O McIntyre has been designated to act in the Office of President during the absence of the President. Mr Savarin is scheduled to return to Dominica on Sunday, 24th January 2016.
