Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says it is important that new responses and strategies are implemented to combat the effects of globalisation on the Dominican economy.
According to Mr Skerrit, Dominica's small size and vulnerabilities are no longer considered primary factors for preferential treatment in this era of globalisation. He made particular mention of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
PM Skerrit says the imperatives of the CSME will pose major challenges for the public service, as more pressure is placed on Governments to address issues such as offsetting the balance of skilled manpower.
PM Skerrit was addressing the Public Service Awards and Recognition ceremony on Friday, which formed part of activities for National Public Service Day 2016 which was celebrated under the theme "Embracing the challenge: Rethink, Rebuild, Transform!"
