Prime Minister Skerrit to make Dominica’s case on climate change at COP 22 conference Morocco11/16/2016 Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is currently in Marrakech, Morocco for a very important COP 22- UN Climate change conference. In a Facebook post PM Skerrit said "I am joined by my colleague heads from Jamaica (Andrew Holness), St. Lucia (Allen Chastanet), and St. Vincent and the Grenadines (Ralph Gonsalves). Haiti is represented by its Foreign Minister Pierrot Delienne and Bahamas by its Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell". Addressing media following a fact finding mission to Haiti and Bahamas following the passage of hurricane Matthew, PM Skerrit called for a more aggressive approach from international and regional heads towards climate change. He said Dominica will be taking a firm position on the issue of climate change at this meeting. Making up the delegation led by PM Skerrit are Minister for Health & Environment Dr Kenneth Darroux, Dominica’s Ambassador to the United States and the Organization of American States (OAS) Dr Vince Henderson, and Dominica’s Ambassador to Japan, Mr Lloyd Pascal.
Known as the international political response to climate change, the high-level conference scheduled from November 7 to 18, 2016, is organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
