Should Marijuana Be Legalized? That’s the topic to be discussed at a panel discussion organized by the Roseau Public Library on Thursday 12 January 2017, from 7 pm at the Pointe Mitchel Community Center. This coincides with Drug Awareness Month observed annually in January.
Librarian Renata Charles of the Roseau Public Library says this will give people the opportunity to get informed about marijuana, and to enable them to make an informed contribution to discussions, as to whether or not it should be legalized. The panellists will include Superintendent of Police Claude Weekes, Attorney Henry Shillingford, Dr Phillip St. Jean, Martha Jarvis of the Drug Prevention Unit and Kester Toussaint of the House of Nyabinghi. The discussion will be moderated by Officer in Charge at the University of the West Indies Open Campus, Ms Kimone Joseph. The Public Library is also offering free transportation to those who require it, because according to Charles, this is a very important, interesting and educational topic, and there are those who are for and against, the legalization of marijuana. Charles stated, “Seeing that we’ve taken the time to put this panel discussion together, we would be very grateful for a large turnout, and particularly adults and young adults.
