Public Works Ministry asks motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution on the West Coast Road, also called the Edward Oliver Leblanc Highway, in Dublanc.
Torrential rain on Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, resulted in the collapse of the road. That section of the road had first collapsed in March 2016. “Road restoration works are currently ongoing, and caution signs have been erected to guide the public,” the ministry said late Thursday afternoon. A Section of the road collapsed between Saturday night, March 12, and Sunday morning, March 13, 2016, due to heavy rains. The road in the area actually began crumbling after the passage of Tropical Storm Erika in August last year. On April 18, the Government signed a contract with George Excavating & Trucking Services for the rehabilitation of the failed section of the road.
