Public Works Ministry has closed sections of Dr Nicholas Liverpool Highway going through Belles11/11/2016 The Public Works Ministry has closed sections of Dr Nicholas Liverpool Highway which passes through Belles. Rainfall over the past 24 hours in the Belles area has significantly affected the roadway.
Motorists and residents had earlier reported that the area poses extreme danger as some sections are sinking, and a landslide had left debris strewn along the Dr. Nicholas Liverpool Highway. In that regard, the Ministry of Public Works & Ports is advising the general public of the closure of the road, in the vicinity of the primary school for the Belles area, with immediate effect. Local access will be permitted only as far as the school, and all traffic intending to go beyond Belles – especially traffic going to or coming from the Douglas-Charles Airport, should access the Portsmouth route or Pond Casse’ to Castle Bruce, and through the Kalinago Territory route. Safety and direction signs, signals and barriers will be erected for the public’s safety. The ministry asks the public to refrain from defacing, destroying, removing or tampering with these signs. The Ministry apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
