Q95 hosted a radiothon to help First Dominica Prime Minister Patrick Roland John today 4th January 2016, on the ‘Hot Seat with Matt’, in order to enable him to source specialist medical attention overseas. John was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital on November 29, 2015, and was discharged last week. Speaking on Q95 Thursday, John said although he has been discharged, he is not out of the woods, and is still suffering from shortness of breath and other symptoms. He is in need of financial assistance to obtain medical treatment from specialists overseas.
Clip: Dominicans have come out and pledged their contributions from their hearts, to assist their country’s first Prime Minister. Meanwhile, John says he has not been contacted by any Government official, with any offer to provide him with financial assistance to undergo medical treatment overseas, but other persons may have approached government on his behalf. He is said to be suffering from a heart condition. John served as Premier of Dominica after Edward LeBlanc left office, and led the country to independence in 1978, as the head of the DLP. He is said to be suffering from a heart condition. Clip: Dominicans say this is a sad day in the legacy of the Labour Party, as the ruling DLP Administration has done nothing so far, to assist Dominica’s first Prime Minister Patrick Ronald John, who led the same DLP at the time he became the first Prime Minister of Dominica. Many Dominicans find this posture by the current DLP Administration to be completely inhumane and disrespectful, to the former DLP Leader and first Prime Minister of Dominica. Patrick Roland John’s administration brought much development to Dominica, including the National Bank, the Dominica Social Security, the Canefield Airport, Major Housingprograms in several areas in Dominica. He also wrote calypsos, and brought Dominica into FIFA, among many other accomplishments. The entire Q Family including the Management and Staff of Q95fm Radio, and all of the Q Listeners in Dominica and in the Caribbean and worldwide, extend very best heartfelt wishes to Dominica’s First Prime Minister, on his Journey to receive urgent medical attention overseas, and exhort Dominicans at home and abroad, to continue to contribute their financial support, directly to Dominica’s First Prime Minister Patrick Roland John and his family, no matter how small, to ensure that he gets the medical attention that he needs. We wish him God’s Speed.
