Raffoul family morning loss of Nelly Stharre & Emile Raffoul who died under difficult circumstances2/15/2016 Raffoul family morning the loss of Nelly Stharre & Emile Raffoul, both of whom died under difficult circumstances. Reggae artiste Nelly Stharre Raffoul’s family say they are finding it difficult to cope with her loss, some six months after she has been reported missing. Nelly Stharre has been assumed dead after her house was destroyed by fire in August 2015. The CID of the Dominica Police Force says it is investigating the discovery of human remains in that house, after a relative discovered the house on 19th August 2015.
Their sister Anna Raffoul said “We cannot put her to rest or anything yet because the police cannot identify the body. Some of us are doing better than others but it is very difficult. The body was so badly burnt; all that was left were ashes and bone fragments,” she continued. February 12th 2016 is especially difficult for the family. It would have been her 42nd birthday. She was born in 1974. Anna said “The police keep telling us that they are investigating, but as to anything concrete, anything semi-concrete or any improvements, they haven’t given us nothing”. She added that while she cannot say whether or not she is satisfied with the investigations, she is hoping to get some word that the instigation is moving forward. “We have sent some of the remains overseas and they cannot do anything about it. We know that is a fact, but nothing has been put forward as to what happened.” Our requests for an update on the investigations from the Police Department have so far proven futile. She added that she wants her sister to be remembered by the words of her song and the last album she was working on to be released in May 2016 dubbed ‘Sister Cool’. “Emile and I were actually in the process of promoting the songs in that album. We were exciting about and as her birthday was coming up, we kept putting it off and saying next week, and then Emile passed,” she said emotionally. Meanwhile, Emile Antoine Raffoul, 36, of Copthall was the victim of a fatal collision on the Edward Oliver LeBlanc Highway on Saturday 30 January 2016. His funeral service took place at the Roseau St Gerard’s Hall on Saturday 13th February 2016.
