Rayburn Blackmoore says steps must be taken to reduce the impact of natural disasters on Dominica and its citizens
Minister responsible for natural hazards, Rayburn Blackmoore, says while natural disasters cannot be prevented, steps can be taken to reduce the impact on the country and its citizens.
The National Emergency Planning Organization (NEPO) met Friday ahead of the official start of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane season.
This year’s season prediction indicates that it will be an average season with the possibility of 12 named storms, of which 5 could be hurricanes, with 2 major hurricanes of category 3-5.
The Minister addressed the opening ceremony at the Office of Disaster Management in Jimmit Friday.
