Recently launched Dominica Cycling Association hits the road with a major awareness campaign event8/26/2016 The new Dominica Cycling Association (DCA) launched in January 2016, is on an awareness campaign. The association is now headed by Attorney Ronald Charles. He says the DCA is moving ahead with an awareness event, which will be held from 3pm on Saturday 27th August 2016, and that it is open to all cyclists.
Charles said “The activity begins at Pointe Michel, then on through Newtown, Loubiere, the Botanical Gardens, Bath Estate, down through the back of the Stadium. We will then go down to Ravine Cock, and return to the Bayfront. We are really excited about this event. We know there are already several riders in Dominica that have good potential. So we are happy to know that a number of clubs and individuals are looking forward to cycling”. The Dominica Cycling Association obtained endorsements from, and is partnering with, the Dominica Olympic Committee and the Union for Cyclists International, following its launch. Speaking on Q95’s SportsWrap on Thursday night, Charles said he is proud of the association’s achievements, and these partnerships promise to translate into the advancement of the DCA, and the cycling sport in Dominica. Meanwhile Mr. Charles is inviting everyone to the Cycling Awareness Day carded for Saturday 27th August 2016 from 3pm. All persons are advised to gather at Point Mitchel with their bikes and gear, including helmets and protection pads. The executive members are Ronald Charles, President; Andrew Amour, vice president; Chester Letang, public relations officer; Barry Casimir, Treasurer; Rhoda St. John, General Secretary; and Hayden Mills and Kendra Stevens are committee members.
