Reports indicate Kurt ‘Shabba’ James was shot dead while fleeing from Antigua Police on Sunday 3rdJanuary 2016

​Dominican Kurt 'Shabba' James, has been shot dead in Antigua. He has a long rap sheet in Dominica, and was wanted by Dominicapolice authorities.According to the Antigua Observer, "A mid-morning shoot-out on Sunday, between the police and Dominican fugitive Kurt “Shabba” James ended with the suspect being shot dead in his apartment at Carlisle."
 
James has served time in jail in Dominica, for several offences, including rape.It is believed that James may have been committing crimes in Antigua & Barbuda, since his arrival on the island in recent weeks.
 
James was due to appear in court in Dominica in July, but did not show up, and sources claim that the deceased may have first fled to Barbados and subsequently to Antigua.
 
The Antigua Observer stated further that based on several tips from the Antiguan public, investigators learned that he was in the country, and began searching for him in connection with possible crimes committed there.
 
Intelligence led them to James’ apartment where he allegedly opened fire on the police when they announced their presence, a source reported.
 
James was rushed to Mount St John’s Medical Centre where he succumbed to multiple gunshots wounds, sources said.
 
Reacting to the news, many say they are content that the convict is now off the streets. James has been classified as a serial rapist having had several rape convictions in Dominica.
