DLP Senator Mirium Blanchard, has been appointed Public Works and Ports Minister, replacing Soufriere MP Ian Pinard, effective Monday 7th March 2016. This was announced by the Office of the Prime Minister, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Meanwhile, the portfolio of postal services has been allocated to Justina Charles, Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency empowerment. Ian Pinard who resigned from the post last Wednesday with immediate effect, in light of what he said are allegations of serious inappropriate behaviour made against him. In a public statement, Pinard said “In light of these allegations, I consider my continued presence in the cabinet can adversely impact the important work this government is doing and must continue to do for the people of Dominica.” He noted that in order for him to appropriately address the allegations against him, and also to focus on other important personal matters, he tendered his resignation to the Prime Minister.
