Senior Environmental Health Officer in the Ministry of Health & Environment, Sylvester St Ville, says climate change will increase the risk of food and water related diseases in Dominica and the rest of the Caribbean. St Ville made this disclosure while presenting the findings of a recently conducted health and climate vulnerability study on Dominica and the Caribbean on Monday. The study was conducted in May 2015 by the Ministry of Health & Environment in collaboration with the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology & Hydrology, the Pan American Health Organization, the World Meteorology Organization and Health Canada. St Ville says there is also a relationship between leptospirosis and heavy rainfall events. Senior Environmental Health Officer in the Ministry of Health & Environment Sylvester St Ville
