Silverlake Residents allege Police Stormed into their community and homes without a search warrant12/29/2015 On 28th December 2015, Police allegedly stormed into a poor community on the outskirts of the city of Roseau called Silverlake, for purposes unknown at this time. Residents claimed that the police came into their community without a search warrant, and were heavily armed with large guns, and allegedly fired some rounds of ammunition, in the presence of very young children. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the raid conducted by the Dominica Police Force may have resulted in three young men being arrested for possession of marijuana.
CLIP: However, the residents of Silverlake are not pleased with the manner in which the police conducted their search activities. An unidentified woman stated on the record that she was shocked by the amount of force displayed by the police, in the course of conducting their search. An unidentified person reported that the police searched residences without a search warrant. CLIP: Meanwhile, a guest on the Hot Seat show, Hartley Adams says he does not support labelling all of Dominica’s police officers as ‘bad guys’. He says what happened in Silver Lake is unfortunate, if it is the case as alleged that the police searched residences without warrants. CLIP: Q95 will make every effort to get the Police side of that story as regards their actions in the circumstances.
