Dominica’s Minister of Social Services, Catherine Daniel, says the DLP Administration recognises the importance of the Juvenile Justice System to enhance the protection of children’s rights on island. She made the remarks at the end of phase 1 of the OECS USAID Justice Reform Program which was held recently. The JJRP Project aims to reform the existing Juvenile Justice System of the next 6 independent member states to strengthen the same through the application of reform projects applied nationally and sub-regionally for improving the life circumstances of young persons in trouble with the law. It has a strong focus on rehabilitative approach and also aims to enhance public safety. The project is a joint initiative between the OECS and the United States Agency for International Development and was launched in 2011.
