Students across Dominica have been celebrating the 5th Annual Primary Schools French Festival. They assembled at the Goodwill Primary School on Wednesday March 16, 2016, for the celebration of the event.
The Festival is part of the month-long francophone celebration held throughout the month of March. The school displayed their talents in French, and displayed the various flags of the Francophone countries. Top French students from the Various Primary Schools were presented with awards at the Festival, along with long serving French Teachers, for their contribution to the development of the French language in Dominica. During the festival Education & Human Resource Development Minister Petter Saint Jean said his ministry, through the government, will continue to maintain a positive relationship with francophone Nations. St Jean said “I am indeed pleased to note that we will continue through the efforts of the Ministry of Education to nurture this relationship. I believe that we are doing so because we recognize the importance of establishing and maintaining positive bilateral relationships, especially considering that Dominica lies between two French islands.” He added that the benefits which students and the education system in Dominica have received over the past years, have made Dominica’s membership in the Francophone a very rewarding one.” He noted that the festival has grown significantly from its inception 5 years ago.
