The “Queens & Tins” project will involve past Miss Dominica’s giving back. In the “Queen’s Crew” project, her crew will cook 75 plates of food for distribution to vagrants and homeless people.
“Queens and Tins” is essentially a food drive that will take place on December 3rd outside the Prevost Cinemall, opposite H.H.V Whitchurch and Company Ltd from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. The general public is being asked to make a small contribution of non-perishable items or cash for the less fortunate. She said “We have invited past Queens to join our fund raising event. We have actually invited the Miss Teen, the Princess, the Mother’s Queen, basically members of the royal family of 2016, and all those from the past 10 to 20 years who still want to give back, because once you are a Queen, you are always a Queen.” Floissac said the foods collected will be distributed to four communities, which will be decided by the Queens during their next meeting. She added “one of the communities that we most definitely want to target is the Kalinago Territory”. Floissac said she intended to do a bigger project during the course of her reign, “but because of time constrains and just having a busy schedule, it never really happened.” The Convent High School (CHS) student council contributed food items to the team during the launching ceremony. The items were presented by Head Girl of the CHS, Elleen Commodore. Floissac also explained that “The Queen’s Crew” actually took on their own and decided to have a project, as Random Act of Kindness”. She said, “the crew will be cooking 75 breakfast meals and they will go around distributing breakfast to vagrants and homeless people on the streets.”
