This year’s Atlantic hurricane season is forecast to be an active one and the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) is encouraging residents to ensure that preparations are in place.
Individuals are urged to have their emergency kits ready which should include water, non-perishable food, important documents, baby items, medication, battery-operated radio, flashlight, clothes, toiletries, blankets, personal hygiene items, first-aid kit, hand-sanitizer & masks. Preparations around the house should include trimming overhead branches, removing loose items from outside, storing water for drinking and other purposes, ensuring the safety of windows and doors and having plywood on hand if shutters are not fixed to the property. Meantime, CBS News meteorologist and climate specialist Jeff Berardelli joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss a new warning from the UN's World Meteorological Organization, that Earth is likely to hit a key climate threshold in the next five years. He also discusses a series of blows dealt this week to the oil industry.
