In an effort to continue their mandate after the departure of Child fund Caribbean, the East Dominica Children's Federation presented 18 primary schools, and 18 pre-schools along the north-east, east and south-east district with water storage containers along with cleaning and school supplies. Director of the East Dominica Children's Federation, Velma Moses-Joseph, says the supplies which are valued at over $7,000 are geared at assisting and enhancing the learning environment at these schools. The primary schools included the Bense and Belles Primary Schools which were not originally part of the regular working area. Early childhood development regulations stipulates every ECD Centre be equipped with at least 3 storage containers of water at any given time and after the ravages of TS Erika many of the rural communities were without water, and children were being sent home from school. Joseph says the containers donated, if used properly will allow the children to remain in school for a longer period of time. Director of the East Dominica Children's Federation Velma Moses-Joseph
