38 outstanding sports personalities and institutions will be honoured for their contributions in 2015 when the Ministry of Sports hosts the 10th Annual National sports awards today.
The event will commence at 7pm at the Fort Young Hotel under the theme 'Honouring Sporting Achievements'. The Awardees will include MVP's for various sporting disciplines, special Olympics athlete of the year, PE/Sports Teacher of the Year (primary & secondary), School of the year in sports(primary & secondary), Sports Reporter of the year, Club of the year, among others. The highlight of tonight's ceremony is Sportsman and woman of the year. Among the contenders for Sportsman of the year are: Yordanys Garcia – Track & Field, Thomas Felix – Basketball, Tyron Theophile – Cricket and Randolph Peltier – Football. While the contenders for Sportswoman of the year are Shernel St. Rose – Netball, Alijah Titre – Football, Alliyah Prince – Table Tennis, and Shanee Angol – Track and Field. A special recognition award will also form part of Wednesday evening’s presentation.
