Three Dominicans from Woodford Hill have been reported missing, after failing to return home from sailing to Marie-Galante last week. Janie Henderson is one of those missing persons.
The mother of one of the missing persons, Mary Jarvis, says her daughter, and her (daughter’s) boyfriend, Francis Toussaint, of Guadeloupe, along with a man named “Arnold,” left Dominica for Marie Galante on Saturday March 12, 2016, in an “orange and blue fishing boat.” She started that she started worrying when her daughter did not contact her, days after she had expected the three would have returned. Her daughter and her boyfriend had reportedly called her and assured that they had made it safely to Marie Galante, and that they would be returning to Dominica on 14th March, but they have not been back since. The concerned mother said after having received no word from the group, she made a report at the Calibishie Police Station, on Tuesday 15th March, and the Coast Guard was thereby informed of the matter. Jarvis said that she has been contacted by the Puerto Rico Coast Guard, for information on her daughter. However, she said that she was subsequently told that their search would be terminated, as the three missing persons had not been found. “I know for sure they contact the other neighbouring bases, like a Martinique, maybe Guadeloupe. For sure, I know they contact Puerto Rico, because Puerto Rico was calling me all the while, and asking me information…” she divulged. “Yesterday the Puerto Rico Coast Guard called, they said well, they haven’t seen anything, so they will not be searching anymore.”
