Ti Orkest won the 2016 Cadence Lypso Band Competition on Saturday night & retained its 2015 crown11/14/2016 Patrons of the NCCU 2016 Cadence Lypso Competition got a final treat Saturday night at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt. The show which was scheduled for the Pottersville Savannah over one week ago, was halted mid-way due to inclement weather conditions.
In the first part of that earlier show, individual competitors presented their renditions under favourable weather conditions, followed by Cadence Lypso legend Gordon Henderson. But shortly after Henderson's performance, heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning brought the show to an abrupt end. White Fairy won that competition for a consecutive year, and retained his 2015 crown. Gerd Dorsette came in a close second, with a difference of only one point between them, in the final scores from the judges. In the bands competition on Saturday night at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt, Ti Orkest also won the competition for a consecutive year, and also retained its 2015 crown. Breve came in second, Signal Band captured third place, and the ‘Look Us’ band came in fourth. Each band was allotted 45 minutes, and played two (2) original songs, one piece from the late Jeff Jo, and the rest of their performance was made up of selections of Cadence Music.
