Tourism Minister Robert Tonge reportedly assisted in preventing the spread of a fire at a storeroom of the King George 5th Street Museum, in Roseau. Tonge says himself and others were assisting in preparations for the upcoming tourist season at the Roseau Bay front, when they saw smoke rising from the ‘Museum’ area in Roseau. Tonge said he hurried to the scene and after taking a calculated decision, entered the storeroom and began removing items that were partially on fire, with assistance from his team, so as to help prevent the fire from spreading. Fire officials arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, and got the fire under control. Q95 news was first on the scene, and held an exclusive interview with Minister Tonge, at the location of the fire. Meantime Senator Robert Tonge expressed some empathy toward the vendors who lost items in the fire, and put out a call to Dominican citizens, to participate in the drills held by the fire department, so as to be informed on what to do, whenever a fire breaks out.
