The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Dominica launched the Country Conference scheduled to take place in Dominica on May 19 and 20, 2016 under the theme: “Food for Thought: Ensuring Sustainability through Food & Nutrition Security and Resilience in the Nature Isle.”
Twenty-two (22) research-based papers on food & agriculture, and sustainable development, conducted in and about Dominica, will be presented to the public over these two days, making Dominica’s Conference one of the largest so far, of all the Country Conferences of the UWI. According to Ms. Kimone Joseph, the topic of agriculture was chosen to raise awareness to the fact that, should the significant reduction of agriculture in Dominica over the last 25 years continue, the food supply, health and economy, will be compromised.
