UWP held a massive mobilization meeting in Lagon last night against the sale of Diplomatic Passports1/27/2017 The United Workers Party held a massive mobilization meeting in Lagon last night, against the sale of Dominica’s Diplomatic Passports to shady characters. Hundreds of concerned Dominicans showed up to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the program.
This outrage was triggered by the news that a recently arrested fugitive Iranian named Alireza Monfared who had been on the run from foreign governments on allegations of embezzling billions of dollars, had continued to be allowed to remain in hiding in a house at Morne Daniel in Dominica, for several months, after a Diplomatic passport issued to him by the Skerrit Led DLP Administration, says it had cancelled his Diplomatic passport, as well as his regular Dominica passport that had been issued to him under the Citizenship by Investment program. Several UWP members and influential persons residing in Dominica and overseas, addressed the large gathering, and disclosed the facts of the matter. Speaker after speaker demanded that the DLP government resign because of the issuance of Dominica Diplomatic Passports to several shady characters, and that the Electoral Commission implement Electoral Reforms that had been requested for several years now. UWP Leader Lennox delivered a fiery address to bring the curtains down on the meeting at about 10:30 pm. Q95 will bring you more details in later newscasts today, including voice inserts from the speakers who addressed the gathering.
