Opposition Leader Lennox Linton has described 2016 as “another 12-month catalogue of increasing poverty, joblessness, spiralling cost of living, senseless murders, epidemics, and lies from the powerful, to fool the powerless”. In his Christmas message, the opposition leader said, “the leadership of the Christian Church pretends to see and hear no evil,” and the nation continues to suffer, while taking solace in the carols of the season.
Linton described the DLP government’s efforts at raising funds for economic purposes, as “the corrupt manipulation of the sale of Dominican passports”. He added that there was no shortage of reminders this year, that for many, the blessings just didn’t seem to flow, while the sorrows grow. Linton however, offered a hope filled promise, that one day, the UWP will end poverty, and secure the greatest good, for the greatest number.
