Linton found the Former Commonwealth Secretary General Baroness Patricia Scotland to be self-centred and biased, in her use of authority and political association. Recently, Britain took over Commonwealth operations from Baroness Scotland. Sir Simon Gass, a recently retired senior official with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), has been appointed acting chief operating officer at the Commonwealth Secretariat, in an attempt by the UK government to shore up the troubled organization, amid concerns over the leadership of Dominican-born Baroness Patricia Scotland. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Lennox Linton said the current circumstances surrounding Dominican Born, Former Commonwealth Secretary General Baroness Patricia Scotland, is a major embarrassment to Dominica, and by extension to the entire Commonwealth Group. Linton believes, Dominicans should feel ashamed of the image being portrayed of Scotland.
