Venezuelan Embassy’s 16th Spanish Language Week ended with an Awards Ceremony last Friday11/21/2016 The 16th Spanish Language Week organized by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Commonwealth of Dominica is said to have ended successfully with an awards ceremony last Friday.
This is an annual event, and was coordinated with the Venezuelan Institute for Culture & Cooperation. The Secondary Schools that participated in the spelling and linguistic competitions, all in Spanish were: Dominica Community High School; Dominica Grammar School; Convent High School; Isaiah Thomas Secondary School; Castle Bruce Secondary School; Orion Academy, and North East Comprehensive School. Louise Aarons of Convent High School won the Spelling Competition and the Linguistic competition; followed by the Convent High School grabbed, the Dominica Grammar School and the Dominica Community High School. Venezuela Ambassador Hayden Pirela Sanchez congratulated all of the Secondary Schools participants and their various Principals and Spanish teachers, for being enthusiastic in teaching Spanish at their schools as a second language. The competition commenced on Monday 14th November, and ended on Friday 19th November 2016.
