Young New-comers Janae Jackson & Earl White among 20 who made it to the 2016 Calypso Semi Finals

​Young New-comers Janae Jackson & Earl White among twenty (20) who made it to the 2016 Calypso Semi Finals. Janae Jackson is the youngest calypsonian in the competition. Janae is only 19 years old.
 
A huge crowd filled up the Newtown Savannah, and took in the rhythms and lyrics of the calypsonians, with great appreciation, on Saturday night. The 2016 calypso semi-finals competition is scheduled to take place on Saturday 23rdJanuary 2016.The other eighteen calypsonians who were selected from among the thirty-three (33) competitors are: Black DiamondObserver, Checko, Charis D, Sye, Shadow Flow, Dice, Beno, Lugars, Bobb,Checker, Daddy Chess, Webb, Sting Ray, Picky, Boople, Jama B, Soul Puss.
 
The thirteen (13) calypsonians who did not find favour with the judges were: Chris B, Jerd, Prosper, Vigilante, Hardliner, Raheem, De Oxygen, Explosion, Comforter, Young Bull, Alisha and former monarch Tronada who is based in New York. he arrived on island in the morning of thatsame Saturday.
 
Meanwhile, immediately after his performance at the show, Val ‘Young Bull’ Cuffy announced onstage, that he is retiring from competitions. He said “Tonight is the last night I will be competing in calypso in Dominica”.
 
However, he added that he would continue to perform as a Master of Ceremonies.
