​UWP Senator Ernie Jno Finn is concerned about the level of preparedness and limited consultation with stakeholders by the DLP administration, to meet its objective of starting ‘face to face’ classes in February 2022.
 
Jno Finn says based on her interaction with stakeholders, this decision was not arrived at collectively as was announced, considering the constraints on all aspects of that sector, due to the Covid Pandemic.

Digital Educator Dr Simone Mathieu noted that the government of the People’s Republic of China entering into strategic agreements in two main areas with select countries, shows its motives and intent with respect to Global Infrastructure and Trade.

​Digicel has announced the appointment of Nikima Royer-Jno Baptiste as CEO of its operations in St. Lucia effective 1st February 2022. In this role, Mrs. Royer-Jno Baptiste will have responsibility for driving all aspects of the business as the Digital Operator journey continues.
 
Royer-Jno Baptiste moves to head up the St. Lucia team from Digicel Dominica where she served as CEO for the last 5 years. She also served as Chairman of Digicel’s Group Business Continuity Management team since 2018.  As customers of all types embrace a digital lifestyle, she is charged with fostering growth and innovation across the mobile, Digicel Business and Digicel + business lines and, importantly, ensure culture and community impact are at the heart of the company’s activities.She has worked with Digicel for seven years with key roles in management, analysis and administration.

​Roseau North MP Daniel Lugay is dismayed by the dismantling of Dominica’s Public Works Corporation / Department - which for decades did an amazing Job in construction, maintenance and infrastructure works in Dominica. He argues that the DLP Administration’s decision to sell the assets of the Public Works Department, was a silly and greedy mistake. Lugay identified the private companies which have been handpicked to take over maintenance and construction responsibilities in Dominica, which were previously done by the Public Works Dept.

Head of the National Covid19 Vaccination Unit Dr Keevian Burnette says Government is ramping up its vaccination drive amidst the anticipated Carnival celebrations. A number of special entertainment events are scheduled to commence on 20th February. Persons wishing to attend must be vaccinated and provide an antigen test taken 24hrs before the event. A number of pop-up sites will be made available.

Dominica joins the rest of the world in recognizing the 169th anniversary of José Julián Martí Pérez. José Julián Martí Pérez was a Cuban poet, philosopher, essayist, journalist, translator, professor, and publisher, who is considered a Cuban national hero because of his role in the liberation of his country. ​Health Minister Dr Irving McIntyre addresses the public concern as to whether or not the OMNICRON variant is in Dominica. McIntyre revealed the process by which variants are checked and verified by official and credible sources. He says the same was done with previous variants such the present DELTA variant, and added that there is a strong possibility OMICRON may be in Dominica, but it has not been confirmed.

​UWP Senator Ernie Lawrence-JnoFinn says she welcomes Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit’s announcement of reintroduction of ‘Face to Face’ learning in Dominic’s education sector and in schools at all levels.
 
This is set to commence in February. She highlights that the Covid Pandemic has really slowed down progress in schooling nationally. She explained her perception of the comparisons of online learning vs Face to Face learning.

​DFA Public Relations Officer, Gerald George, has informed Q95 News that the Association has decided to cancel its senior women’s trip to Anguilla.The ladies were scheduled to travel to Anguilla today Friday where they would have been engaged in two friendly matches as a lead-up to the Concacaf qualifiers in February. After having their PCR test done, the results came back with a few players testing positive with Covid 19. Q95 wishes those infected with the virus a speedy recovery.
